Umbrella
Myth
Contractors How Much Money Are You Needlessly Giving To The Taxman
Every Year..?
Many of my contractor clients have joined me from Umbrella
Companies, often after many years of contracting. They are all
without exception extremely pleased with the additional take home
pay they are able to generate via their own Limited Company.
So Why Did They Take The Umbrella Route In The
First Place...
The reason given is “It’s the easy option”. This is a perception
that percolates throughout the contracting world but quite honestly
I believe it to be an expensive myth.
Let Me Explain...
What could be easier than choosing your own company name? Because in
essence that’s all you’re actually doing. As your accountant I
register and form the company (Free of Charge) and make all the
relevant returns to Companies House. We set up a Bank Account via
our on line portal with Alliance & Leicester and provide you with
free business internet banking. Any forms that require your
signature are sent directly to your preferred postal address.
From an accounting perspective you then send us all your receipts
and invoices at the end of each month and we prepare on- going
monthly accounts. At your year-end we complete your accounts and
prepare your corporation tax return. We advise you of the required
payment and incidentally you already know this figure as we will be
advising month by month to ensure cash availability.
The Myth Uncovered...
So If you go for the limited company option you send your receipts
in at the end of the month. And if you plump for the Umbrella route
you send your receipts in at the end of the month
And Here’s The Really Shocking Bit...
If You Look At Our Illustration The Extra Few Signatures And The Odd
Additional Form To Complete Is Worth An Extra £12,023per Year –
Every Year
